What the V‑Legacy program means to me is a chance to give back to the younger generation. This business has been very kind to me — I’ve worked hard, but I’ve also been fortunate enough to travel the world doing what I love.

Along the way there have been pitfalls and lessons that I had to learn the hard way. Through this program, I want to contribute to something meaningful and beautiful, so the next generation can grow without facing the same struggles I did.

V Recordings

One of the best things about running V Recordings, over the last 30 years, is being able to spot and develop talent... Identifying new talent and therefore new ideas, is a pillar of what the label stands for. We’ve taken talent of all ages, genders, locations and musical influences and will continue to... To do it alongside some trusted friends and musicians makes it even more exciting.

I am excited to join the V Legacy team — it has always been an honour to share what I have learned throughout my journey. Teaching isn’t just about music; it’s about passing on the culture, inspiring creativity, and giving the next generation the tools to write their own story.

Full Cycle Records

Bristol-born b-boy Kirk Thompson is best known as DJ and producer Krust, an artist whose ideas and frequencies rumble and resonate deep within jungle’s DNA. With an indelible legacy as a key figurehead in the Bristol sound, he has never compromised since emerging in 1989 as a member of Fresh 4. As a founding member of Full Cycle, the first non-London label to truly mould and manipulate the jungle schematic, and Reprazent, one of the first D&B acts to infiltrate the popular psyche and win critical Mercury Music Prize acclaim, his designs continue to help shape our understanding of what drum & bass is.

I am honoured to be part of this important V Legacy programme in order to educate young people on our important contribution to the UK music industry via the history of Jungle… As a big fan of both Jumpin’ Jack Frost and Bryan Gee, I’m really looking forward to hearing from this next generation of artists.

Artist

I’m truly honoured to be part of V‑Legacy. My life’s work has centred on music and creating pathways into the industry for young people from marginalised backgrounds, so they know it’s possible for them too. I’m excited to be part of something that’s bigger than all of us, something that champions creativity and empowers the next generation.

I’ve worked in this industry for a long time, and I know how long it can take to develop the right skills and catch the ears of the people who matter. Working with V is perfect — Bryan and Frost are jungle pioneers who keep moving forwards at all times — the ideal people to make sure the next generation are doing things the right way.
